IWCH 2009 Conference
INTRODUCTION
The IWCH network is a collaboration of McMaster students, faculty and community members who are working together to improve women’s and children’s health in both Canada and abroad. Since 1998 the IWCH network has hosted a one day symposium in Hamilton, Ontario to bring together newcomers and leaders in the area of international women’s and children’s health. Past conferences have highlighted topics such as empowering women, the effects of disaster and displacement on women and children, and current challenges faced by women in marginalized communities in Canada.
2009 CONFERENCE
This year's organizing committee has been hard at work to present to you our 11th Annual IWCH Conference, entitled,
"Planting Seeds: The Growth of Community-Centred Health Initiatives"
On Friday October 2nd 2009, come hear our accomplished and passionately committed speakers call attention to the work taking place in a broad range of health-related fields around the world.
Our objective is to inspire, initiate and support delegates' active engagement in community-centered projects that promote women's and children's health. We plan to bring together students, professionals, activists and NGOs from a variety of disciplines to create a forum for knowledge exchange, dialogue, networking, and collaboration. We hope to promote active participation in improving health conditions for women and children, providing delegates with tools and opportunities to put their passions and skills to good use in their local as well as global communities. Whether you're a seasoned veteran in the field, a budding student, or simply interested in what's going on, come lend your ear and your support to those who continue to shape our ideas and methods for improving health outcomes for women and children everywhere.
The 11th annual International Women's and Children's Health Conference will be held at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington on Friday, October 2nd, 2009.
